Your words stay yours.
Keyko is designed to make typing feel good while keeping keyboard processing on your device.
The browser extension
Audio recordings are bundled with the extension. Preferences and aggregate totals—completed words, characters, keystrokes, and active typing time—stay in your Chrome profile. The extension does not save typed text or send keyboard events, browsing history, or analytics to a server.
The Mac app
The Swift app handles physical key events and plays bundled audio locally. Input Monitoring lets it hear key events in other apps. It stores preferences and aggregate totals on your Mac, without storing typed text.
The optional screen-fold effect needs Screen Recording permission to process live frames of your built-in display. These frames can include anything visible on that display. They stay in memory on this Mac, are used only to render the effect, and are not recorded to disk or uploaded. System audio is not captured. Turn off the effect in Appearance settings to stop capture; you can also revoke permission in macOS System Settings.
When Keyko for Mac is running, the website and extension can contact it through a local connection on this computer to prevent duplicate keyboard sounds. This exchanges only audio availability and temporary ownership status, not typed keys, text, browsing history, or your account token. Ownership expires automatically when the playground disconnects.
This website
The typing demo and globe work locally in your browser. The session click count contains no typed text or location data. The full typing experience saves preferences, personal bests, and an optional custom voice in local browser storage. Ordinary web hosting may keep access logs.
Feedback you choose to send
The feedback form sends your chosen message, optional email address, and optional screenshot to the Keyko server, where they are stored to help improve Keyko. No keyboard text is attached automatically. Avoid including sensitive information in a screenshot.
Your account and Keyko Plus
Sign in with a Supabase email magic link. Supabase stores your email, account identifier, subscription status, plan, expiry, and device connection records. Polar handles checkout and payment details. The server verifies your payment status with Polar and links it to your account, so signing in after reinstalling restores the same plan in Chrome and on Mac. Device sign-in tokens stay in macOS Keychain or Chrome storage restricted to trusted extension contexts; the database stores only hashes of those tokens. Content scripts receive sanitized access status. Keyboard events, browsing history, and typed content are never sent to Polar or Supabase. Signing out of a device does not cancel your subscription. Verified account access works offline for up to 24 hours, capped by subscription expiry. Ads are not included.
Local data
Remove the extension or clear its storage to reset extension preferences and totals. Clear this site’s browser storage to reset saved typing preferences and personal bests.
